Brain Damage!

Being a mother is hard. Well, let me rephrase that. Being the mother of a two year old is hard. It reminds me of Bill Cosby and his skits about kids having brain damage. Like any normal person without kids, I laughed when I first saw this and thought how clever it was. Now as the parent of a young child, I am amazed how accurately he captured children. Anyone who has to have something repeated to them and/or repeat something to you a minimum of 1,000,000,000 times has brain damage. For example-

Evelynn: "Where's mommy?"
Mom: "I'm right here honey."
Evelynn: "Where's mommy?"
Mom: "I'm right here."
Evelynn: "Where's mommy?"
Mom: "I'm right here."
Evelynn: "Where's mommy?"
Mom: "I'm right here."
Evelynn: "Where's mommy?"
Mom: "I'm on the moon."
Evelynn: "Oh. I want to go to the moon!"

This conversation takes place almost everyday in my house, almost exactly the same way. I don't know who is more brain damaged, the child, or the parent who responds every single time. You'd think I would have learned by now. I guess that explains where she gets it from.

Since summer is here in force, my daughter loves to be in her swimsuit. We play in the backyard in her "pool" (or the plastic storage bin we fill with water), sometimes with the neighbor kids. Sam is 9 months younger than Evelynn but they still have so much fun together. In fact, the seem to be sweet on each other since they are continually kissing and hugging when together. They even kissed over the pews at church (scandalous! I wonder where she learned that ;) ). So here's some pictures of fun in the sun.
