School's out! Time for some bragging!

Evelynn graduated from kindergarten with flying colors. Of course, I knew she would because hey, it's kindergarten and she loved it which usually means your child did well in it, right? Her teacher gave us a copy of her scores for the kindergarten testing that they do. I have no idea what the numbers mean other than the fact that the numbers got better between August and May, but I'll post them anyway because I think they're awesome even in my ignorance. And lets face it, it's not like I'm going to remember where I put this paper in 20 years, but I may remember where I put my blog.

*This one made me sigh, because I have been working with Evelynn all year on her name. She knows how to spell it, she knew that before she went into Kindergarten. The problem I think is how she write it. She cannot remember for the life of her to stay on the line provided for the name! It usually ends up sprawled up the page in a very unsightly manner unless I stand over her shoulder and watch her write it letter for letter. Most of her other writing is fine and straight, just not her name.

**This assessment made me laugh out loud. I have a hard enough time getting her to listen and do or repeat anything I say, so having her graded on a dictated sentence must be so hard for her.

***Level 14? Are you kidding me? I wish I knew more about what this meant, because it seems VERY impressive, but I don't know what it means! How do levels shake out for other grades? What kind of books should I have her read this summer? I just don't know, but it's a cool number nonetheless. :)

All this being said, I already can tell it's going to be a long summer for me. Pregnancy aside (if that's possible, it kind of consumes my life and dictates my schedule quite a bit), Evelynn has already shown me that going to school for part of everyday has ingrained in her brain that she needs to go somewhere EVERY day, and/or be thoroughly entertained by someone not herself. It's been trying, and it's only been 4 days. Hopefully we can get back into a rhythm soon, before I lock her in the backyard and tell her to stop bugging me or else I'm going to lose it.

Every year Evelynn's school, like most schools in Utah County, does a dance festival where each grade learns a dance and then performs it for the parents. All the dances were really cute. This was the kindergarten dance.

  1. My favorite part of this post: "And lets face it, it's not like I'm going to remember where I put this paper in 20 years, but I may remember where I put my blog." You made me snicker with that one! Congratulations to Evelynn on a great kindergarten year!
