Asay Family Reunion 2009
This year the Asay Family Reunion was held in the greater Provo area, which was SO nice since we could go home every night and sleep in our own beds. The reunion seemed so much more relaxed for everyone, and there were lots of activities to pick and chose from. Here are the ones we attended.
Day one was a hike to a waterfall in Pleasant Grove and then dinner and family skits. Doug and I started the hike late so we booked it to the top and then ran down, surprising everyone with how fast we got it done. Evelynn walked the whole thing with Grandma Sue and Papa. She did really well! She's my little trooper!

Skit night was were each family got to perform something for everyone else, usually one a theme from the years previous. This is Doug's cousin Lynnsey and her three boys. They did the song "Going On A Bear Hunt" and it was so cute! Evelynn wanted to participate so badly, but she didn't know the actions! You might notice that Evelynn is wearing funny clothes. This is because she was following older cousins around the creek and fell in. She was rescued by Uncle Terry, but as a result was soaking wet. Marrianne thankfully had old clothes she was taking to DI and Evelynn inherited some of Nathan's old clothes.
Our skit was based around Mom's recent bout with cancer. She had thyroid cancer which luckily was very easy to take care of (she's 100% better now!). She had one pill of radioactive material and that was it! The family kept asking about what her super powers were going to be, so our skit was having super hero side kick auditions. Doug was annoying-song-stuck-in-you-head-man, I was super-sonic-screaming-baby-woman (meaning I gave Eloise to a stranger and she freaked out) Kristen was super-fast-walker-woman, and BJ was excellent-dancer-man. He won. :) Dad got killed as an example of mom's radioactive powers.
Tuesday was pool day, and we spent almost all day at Veterans Memorial Pool having a blast. Eloise found a new friend in Kristen. During the whole week she would only be content with me, Doug, and Kristen, so it was nice to have an extra helper.

Thursday we went to Yuba Lake and did boating and wave runners. This is Eloise on the boat. She hated it, for obvious reasons, and so we only went out once with her.
Evelynn on the other hand LOVED the boat! I took her out on the wave runners, which she didn't like as much because it was pretty choppy and she kept getting wet.
What Eloise did like was the sand. She played in the sand by herself for almost an hour! We had a lot of sand all over her when she was done, and did not take kindly to me rinsing her off in the lake.

This is the third Asay Reunion that I have been too and I thought it was the best, but of course I'm biased since I live in Provo, and this time I was not pregnant (the other two coincided with my morning sickness with Evelynn and Eloise). The next one is a cruise, mostly for the Aunts and Uncles and Grandparents. I would love to go, but we'll be poor grad-students by then so it's not likely. I love these reunions because my girls don't have any real cousins and so having them spend time with second cousins or first cousins once removed or whatever that are their own age is so nice for me. I hope they continue to do these as long as possible, but I realize that our family is growing exponentially so it will become harder and harder. It'll be nice while it lasts thought! Thank you to all of you who planned and worked so hard to make it happen!
