...but something at least will be done today. I have three events that I'll put into one post, and then hopefully I'll get back to a more normal posting schedule. This first incident happened a few weeks ago. I was attempting to clean up a mess of Cheerios being thrown over all the clothes that had been pulled out from the girls dresser, as well as just trying to get the house in a semblance of order, so I sent the girls outside in the backyard to play in the nice weather. Evelynn kept coming inside every three or four minutes to complain about being outside, and I kept sending her back out. Finally I got about 10 minutes of uninterrupted work time, and I was feeling happier and I had everything cleaned up. I went to the back door to let in Eloise and found her drawing on the back door with a fat magic marker. As I seized the marker and stepped outside, Evelynn ran inside by me (obviously knowing she was going to be in BIG trouble), and that's when I saw the marker on the cement and on our vinyl fence. Yeah, I lost it, and by lost it I mean I yelled/cried at Evelynn "WHERE DO WE COLOR?" Evelynn said in a small voice "On paper." Then I continued, "GO TO YOUR ROOM! I CAN'T DEAL WITH YOU RIGHT NOW!!!" Then I called Doug and yelled/cried into the phone about the tragedies of raising a 4 year old. Then I called my Dad (who technically owns the fence since it's his house and he paid for it to be installed) and he
laughed. Grandparents, sheesh! The video explains a lot. The marker happened to be around just by pure bad luck. On one of our walks, Evelynn picked up said marker that she found on the sidewalk. I took it away and put it in the stroller, meaning to throw it away. Well, days later Evelynn found the marker in the stroller, and the rest is history.
This next video is much happier since it involves Eloise singing. She knows a lot of songs, and sings them regularly at home. But get her into nursery and she clams up at singing time. I'm the primary chorister and I get to visit both nurseries as well and sing with them, which is tons of fun. By the way, if any of my readers are ward members and their children are singing/demanding to sing songs and you have no idea what they are, please come see me and I'll let you know what we sing. :) There are some new ones that the kids love that most parents don't know (I learned most of them from my mother-in-law) and I would be happy to teach them to you so you can have peace in your house from pestering and frustrated toddlers. Anyway, onto Eloise singing songs.
The last "incident" is really just a quick picture of Evelynn's poor nose. She jumped off the computer chair and somehow landed face first on the carpet and slid, creating a marvelous rug burn on her nose. I should have photographed it earlier, but.....

Geneen, that video is adorable!!! I'm amazed at how well she is talking--Zachary has yet to say a full sentence. :) Your girls are so cute and growing up so fast!
ReplyDeleteSUCH a cute video! I love it. And I remember asking Evelynn about her nose and for the life of me can't remember her response but I laughed pretty hard because it was as though she was trying to change the subject so she wouldn't have to tell me.
ReplyDeleteOh my that permanent marker everywhere really makes me feel for you. I would have done some serious yelling too. :) At least they're cute, right?
ReplyDeleteTry some rubbing alcohol on the places she colored with marker. It works on most surfaces. We used it in my printing class to clean up ink and permanent marker. I use it a lot now, and it works good. We also used fingernail polish remover, but that can ruin some things and is disgusting. Thanks for the post. It makes me realize I am a normal mother!
