In the beginning of August, after things had settle down from all our travels and family visits, and with the hutch finished, we decided to get a rabbit. Our original intent was to get a couple of female rabbits. We had hoped to get them from our friends who raised rabbits, but they didn't have any rabbit kits.
We looked around on KSL, we found an add by a young girl who was selling rabbits for $8.00. We called, made an appointment and went down to take a look. The rabbits were a holland lop mix and were pretty cute. The litter was about 8 weeks old. There was only one female rabbit so we decided that we'd start with one rabbit and add to that later if we wanted to. Since we were only getting one, gender wasn't as big a deal, however the girls picked the girl one.
After stopping by IFA for food and straw and hay, we brought our bunny home. The girls were pretty excited, after talking it over they decided to name her Isabella (inspired by Phineas and Ferb).
We've had a lot of fun with our new pet. We let her out in the yard to run around, and she does really well with the kids. She'll even let Michael walk right up to her and pet her. She also enjoys sitting on our laps and being petted.
She's pretty cute. All in all, I think our first experiment with a pet is a successful one.
