Michael had a birthday (*cough cough*, a month ago, ahem)! He turned the big two, which really isn't all that big but hey, two is still a cool age. :) We've started the tradition of coloring signs for the kids and hanging them up the night before so that they see them in the morning. I have decided to name the rest of my kids names 4 letters or less in direct result of this (not really, but it is making me seriously reconsider my current favorite girl name of Charlotte for the new baby). Doug colored the bulk of the letters while I was at my presidency meeting. He even freehand drew the Lightening McQueen on the M, just because he is that awesome.
If you have not yet met my son, you should know that he loves cars, trucks, motorcycles, buses, and Cars (aka the Disney version). So naturally, because I think this is the cutest obsession ever, we indulged him for his birthday with multiple cars gifts. He was in heaven. My mom got him the awesome firetruck, my mother-in-law got him the car road map thingy you see in the background, and Doug and I got him a motorcycle, a silver car, a Cars backpack, and some Cars and truck themed jammies. These all made quite the impression. In fact, the jammies made so much of an impression that I now have the problem of either having one of the two jammie sets clean and on hand every night or putting up with a huge fight to get anything else on his body to go to bed. A few times now I've put him to bed without clothes and came back later to dress him after he was asleep because the fight was too much for me. He also loves to take his treasures with him when we go places now, which is easier to manage with his handy backpack. Whenever I say "Michael, lets go get in the car!" he responds with, "Car's backpack!" and then he runs and loads up as many cars and trucks he can jam in there to bring on the trip. When we get in the car he immediately unloads them into his lap for the duration of the ride, then loads them into his bag once we arrive. I really don't mind this at all since he does it almost all by himself, it gives him a great distraction for the ride, and he's just SO darn cute doing it that I can't ever deny him.
There as also cake, which he knew exactly what to do with. Being the third child and all, mom and dad have been a little more generous with the sweets (please read as didn't want to fight about what he was getting verses what his sisters had) so he's no stranger to cake.
In our ward there are three other little boys with birthdays all within a month of each other. We mom's decided to get together and throw a little combined birthday party for them. There was cake, some party favors and decorations, and of course four cute little boys! They are going to be the terror of primary in a few years!
Here's the mom's of the bunch. I'm the only one pregnant again this soon.... what do these guys know that I don't? :)
I am SO thankful to have Michael in our family! He's our little sun spot, making us laugh every day and definitely keeping us on our toes! We love our little boy!
What a fun birthday! And Doug, way to draw / color!
