Discussing politics

With the election happening right now, it's not hard to believe that discussions tonight have been rather political. With projections favoring Obama as president we have started discussing some of the changes that may occur with him as president.

While discussing the very real and scary possibility that Obama will pull all of our troops out of Iraq I mentioned that it will create a very unstable political situation. This will NOT be like Vietnam where the country sorted itself out. This will be much worse. Iraq is a very divided country and I fear the instability. I summed up my feelings thusly:

"If the US pulls out of Iraq it will create a huge power vacuum."

Evelynn, sounding rather confused asked, "What did you say?"

"I said, that if the US pulls out it will create a huge power vacuum," I promptly answered.

She stops, thinks, and replies, "Ohh, that's right."

I'm so glad she agreed.
