Bridal Veil 10k and Wedding Pictures

This Saturday was pretty busy. in the morning I ran the Bridal Veil 10k with my friend Tanille. The course started at the first park at the bottom of Provo Canyon and went up to Bridal Veil Falls, made a loop and came back. To my surprise, this course was MUCH harder than the Rex Lee Run course, which had bigger hills but they didn't last as long. This was 3.1 miles up hill and then 3 miles down hill with the last tiny but uphill to the finish line. I finished the race, and I didn't walk once, but I did get the mother of all side aches about 5.5 miles into the race and I had to slow down to almost a hobble. Because of this, and because of the fact that I think I started my watch early, I don't know what my official time was. As best I can gauge I did it in 55:22, which was 14 seconds faster than the Rex Lee Run. Doug swears I came in the top 20 for the women, but there was no way to tell. This race was pretty low tech and low key, so I may never find out how I did. But that's ok. This was a great learning experience. It drove home the point once again that I do NOT want to run a race any longer than 6 miles. I may run more than 6 miles by myself, but racing it is just not fun for me! I think I'll try and stick to 5k's from now on. :)

Me finishing the race. It was traumatic!

Me trying to breathe through the side ache and not puke! I was trying to wave Doug off taking my picture because I did not want this moment recorded, but it was anyway.

Fully recovered about 10 minutes later. Now you can take my picture.

There's Tanille! She did awesome! Thanks for running with me!

After the race. We did it!

In other Saturday activities, my cousin Brian got married and we went to his reception. It was very simple and casual and tasteful, and I really enjoyed it. Plus, there was no line! Such a smart cousin I have. :) Doug and I went early to help set up the flowers. We told my grandma that Doug and I had taken a floral arrangement class a few years ago, and that was the end of it. We were put in charge of everything except the brides bouquet. I had a ton of fun doing the flowers, and I think they turned out rather nice. The pictures are all taken by Lori and her camera since I left my memory card at home in my computer on accident.

Evelynn and bubbles with the Draper Temple in the background.

This is my cousin Parker showing off his bubble skills for the girls. He was a big help keeping them entertained!

Family looking over the balcony. I think those are Grandma Holt, Aunt Sue, Uncle Ed, and Grandpa Holt.

Eloise trying to blow bubbles. :)

Those are my sexy legs in the background ;)

Cutting the cake. Not a good picture, but the only one we had of them, unfortunately.

This is what the table decorations looked like. There is a candle in the middle of the cylinder, but it was too light outside to see them.

My big arrangement for the front table.

Doug's awesome arrangement. I'd say we still have the knack after all these years.
