Dinner in the Canyon
We decided to take advantage of the nice weather and have tinfoil dinners in the canyon before there was a fire ban. I packed up as much as I thought the girls would reasonable eat out of doors (which turned out to be close to nothing) and then we each made our own dinners. Doug likes everything together, the hamburger mixed with onion, potato and carrots with seasoning. I like things separate and seasoned separately. I made BBQ chicken with a side of potatoes and steamed veggies. Doug was scornful of my "non traditional" tinfoil creations, but they all turned out fine, so whatever. One word to the wise, frozen veggies wrapped in tinfoil remain frozen for longer than expected, and as a result take a MUCH longer time to cook. So I had chicken and potatoes, and then later had a "dessert" of veggies. The girls loved the canyon and the fire. We went up to South Fork park in Provo Canyon, which I think is the prettiest of the parks they have. If you don't know how to get there, you turn off at Vivian Park (which is I think the last public park before the Sundance turn off) and take the road up and up and up, about 5 minutes. The stream running through it is so nice, and not very deep at all so I don't worry if the girls decide to explore it and fall in, because at least on Evelynn it only goes up to her calves. So we all had dinner, got very dirty and smokey, and had a good time. We couldn't enjoy the fire too much because it was kind of windy, and Eloise had an unhealthy fascination with it. No s'mores that night, which was probably for the best since that would have been nearly all the girls ate, and I certainly didn't need that kind of temptation around.
Evelynn and Eloise were so fascinated with the water that it took a lot of coaxing the get them to look at the camera, and then this was the picture I got. Cheesy.
You might notice the abandoned cheese stick beside her. This was one of the few times for Eloise that food was not as interesting as her environment.
The bridge. I was focusing the picture without really looking at it, and as I pushed the button to take the picture I noticed Eloise walking very quickly towards the side of the bridge. I'm surprised it turned out at all considering I was running almost before the picture finished taking.

I love your tinfoil recipes!! I tried the same thing, a female twist to camping fire food and NIck thought it was lame (what's wrong with rice and chicken?) But I brought WAY too much, I think same problem.....the wild wild outdoors.
