Today, Eloise officially started crawling. Well, it's more like scooting. She does the improvised army crawl where she pushes with her feet and then moves her arms to compensate. Effective, but not very fast (thank goodness!). Evelynn did the same thing. This morning after Doug left and before Evelynn woke up, I put Eloise on the floor and left the room for a few minutes. When I came back she was underneath the couch, unable to get out. I was like, "Well, that's in then, she's mobile."
When Doug got home he decided to see how far she'd go. At first she went nowhere. She refused to put the effort in just to get to Dad. But add a cracker to the mix... now that is something worth moving for! She made it off the carpet and halfway into the kitchen. Doug was so excited, but I still have mixed feelings. Having two kids to worry about and to get into things seems more daunting than anything I've faced so far. I'm already cleaning and scolding and picking up far more often than I would like, but a mom has to do what she has to do, right? Right....~sigh~
Yesterday at playgroup the babies that were her age and younger (well, I guess they are all younger. She is the oldest of the bunch, I just forget because she is the same size as them!) had started crawling or we're moving. I am also one of the few in the group with more than one child, so it didn't concern me at all that Eloise was still stationary. All the other mom's coached their kids and cheered when they crawled, and I was like, you have no idea what you're doing. Eh, they'll learn soon. But playgroup was yesterday and she did not crawl... and now today she does! I think those kids were already a bad influence on her. Look what she picked up!
In the video, I am talking to my neighbor on the phone, so ignore me. And the phone of the floor is Doug's mom on speaker phone urging Eloise on. Just watch the cute baby and ignore the rest. :)
That's awesome!!! Oh no, now when I babysit I'll have 2 running around, LOL!!!
