The sympathy of a two year old...

As absolutely none of you know I am very sick right now and have been for the past few days. The doctors have ruled out mono, the flu, and a kidney infection. They also initially ruled out strep throat but since the time I went to the doctor and he called me back with my lab results he reconsidered, thinking that perhaps I did have a strain of strep (or S.O.S. as I like to call it). He called in a prescription for an antibiotic so here's hoping that does the trick.

Needless to say it's been a hard few days for all of us. Hard especially on Geneen. And I must say I miss being able to interact with all of my girls. It's not very fun to sit in bed all day and have to make a grimace every time I swallow. (Which Evelynn has taken to copying). I think the Evelynn also misses having a daddy to play with she has been quite worried a few times when I've gotten the chills and is always asking me if I am okay, or if I'm still sick, or if I'm feeling better.

Obviously my throat hurts Q.A.D.B. (or quite a darn bit) and in my effort to find some relief I turned to google. The first thing that came up on my query of "how to soothe a sore throat" was this instructional video:

How to Soothe a Sore Throat Naturally -- powered by eHow.com

Now you'll notice that the final piece of advice given is to avoid eating spicy foods. Upon which the lovely assistant throws away a mostly empty bottle of tabasco sauce and a fresh jalepeno. The jalepeno is important.

I love spicy food, I think it's one of life's great pleasure, rest assured I'm not stupid enough to eat it while I have a sore throat.

I was watching this video just as the girls got back from church. When I saw the jalepeno being thrown away I mumbled something like, "What the hey?"
"What?" Geneen asked.
"They just threw away a perfectly good jalepeno."
Evelynn then came over to me put her hand on my arm and said, in her most sympathetic voice, "I'm sorry daddy."
