Rex Lee Run

For those of you who didn't know I have been training to do the Provo Rex Lee Run 10K, which took place yesterday. My goal was to finish in less than an hour, but I had secret hopes of finishing in under 57 minutes, which would have put me at about a 9:30 mile time. Well, I ended up getting a time of 55:37 (according to my watch--official times still pending) which means I ran an 8:58 mile time! I was so excited, and very close to blacking out/puking when I crossed the finish line. In fact, I did it so much faster than expected that Doug missed me finishing! He was walking up to the race from our house since I took the car and he came in one minute after I finished! He was bummed, but it was ok. I was too tired to notice anyone I knew anyway, and Doug wanted to take some unflattering pictures of me finishing, which I think we can all do without. :) So that is my winter accomplishment, to have stayed fit enough to run the 10K after 6 months of fall/winter weather since my last big race (if you remember it was the marathon relay that was in September). Lots of people from my ward participated in the 5K, including my running partner Stacy, who is 4 1/2 months pregnant! She was going to do the 10K with me but decided at the last minute to do something a little less strenuous. She ran with another gril from my ward (Sarah) who is 3 months along. I hope I can be that awesome the next time I'm pregnant!

  2. Way to go!

PS...my word verification is "pround" which almost spells "proud." Word verification is proud of you, too. It just can't spell too great. :)

  3. Hey great job!!! You guys are great for sticking it out all winter. I've been trying to get back into it, but with my schedule this semester it's been off and on. But I'd like to start back up with you guys in April, if I can keep up with you!
